Scholarships Sponsored by Magazines
On occasion, some magazines are known to sponsor scholarships and or spread the word about current on-going scholarships. Seventeen magazine is one that will advertise scholarship as well as internship opportunities geared toward their readers; majority of which are high school soon to be college students.
Its difficult to say which magazines do what but it doesn't hurt to check in with the ones you frequently monthly. Specialty magazines of the likes of The Artists Magazine, Wired, Poetry Magazine and the Nimrod International Journal of Prose and Poetry* -- to name a few -- are some good places to start.
Even if they aren't hosting any at the current time frame, they are more than likely to mention others. Outside of scholarships, specialty magazines usually host contests that offer prize awards; some charge a fee and some don't.
While searching, don't limited yourself to the national publications. Explore local as well as international publications for potential earning opportunities.
