Internships

Scholarships are a great way to help offset the cost of attending college. Depending on your major, there are usually course slots during the final leg of your schooling that involves participating in co-op work. This is also known as an internship.

Internships are one of many great ways for one to obtain real world work experience. There are lots of businesses that host internships that are either paid or unpaid. Unpaid may not be ideal for some, but the experience gained may land you in a paid position; quite possibly at the business you interned for.

If you're uncertain about which business(es) in your area host internships, pay a visit to internships dot com. They may or may not be listed on the site; however, there will be other businesses listed offering work experience opportunities.

Doing a search for opportunities will yield a combination of the following:
  • part-time
  • full-time
  • paid
  • unpaid
  • College Credit [is explained in job post]
  • Job [Entry Level or Student]
The job bit may sound confusing but some businesses are up for actually hiring students [be it temp or long term] to work for them. There are wonderful opportunities available on the site. As an added bonus, there are some internship opportunities that permit you to work from anywhere you like; i.e. online work.

These particular internships will have specifics that must be adhered to in order for the experience to be a successful one. So, if your schedule isn't permitting you to work on location or you wish to take on another internship in addition to the on location one, then this option is for you. As a heads up, while searching for online internships via the Internships dot com site, you must type "virtual" in to the keyword search box.

Honorable Mention: Under Armour©, Inc.
My initial search started with possible scholarships sponsored by them. After some more searching, I came across other information of which their internship program surfaced. There's more to the company/brand than just memorable product.

They provide services in a variety of areas in which the interns will be working. According to their page, they offer internships all year round for students regardless of major. As an added bonus, the internships are paid.

Once you're done reading over and applying for the internship, explore their site in full. Most importantly the Corporate Giving section -- located under the About Us tab.
