Scholarship Highlight: Starfleet Scholars
As geekish as the title sounds, its a promising if not honorary mention in the scholarship world. I was just toiling away one day some years ago doing research on Star Trek and the various timelines when this gem surfaced. The purpose of the research task to look up information for a writing assignment but wanted to make sure the locations mentioned were accurate.
While double checking to make sure the location of Starfleet was in California, I stumbled across the Starfleet Academy web page. At first I thought was fan page created as a tribute but quickly discovered that it was much more.
Anyway, there are five (5) scholarship categories:
The award amount for each scholarship will vary because the scholarship funds are generated via gracious donations from those within and outside of Starfleet. As mentioned on their site, "the application period runs from January 1 to June 15 of each year with the 15th being the deadline."
Hopefully the academy will continue its mission for many years to come. To sign up or even to help donate to the scholarship fund, feel free to explore Starfleet for more details.
