Photography Scholarships 2019

Did some more searching around for photography scholarships and I was able to find some whose due dates are still some time away; or at least a few weeks at minimum. A lot of these photography scholarships have deadlines early in the year and the ones that will be listed have deadlines coming up. So without further ado, the scholarships.

Wedding Retouching Company Scholarship

If you're studying photography and have dabbled in photo editing then this opportunity is for you. Not only is this company an exceptional example of how the art of photo editing works but it's also hosting a scholarship of which will be rewarded to three (3) fortunate participants.

According to the scholarship page, you must be a high school graduate with intentions of enrolling or be currently enrolled in an institution of higher education and have at least a 3.0  GPA. In order to qualify, participants must write an essay on the provided topic and submit the finished piece to the scholarship provider. Winners will be notified on May 1st via email.

David McCoy Photography Endowed Scholarship

As a heads up, you need to be enrolled in Eastfield College of Dallas County Texas. The application process is a little different from the ones I've mentioned in previous posts as you have to create an account on the Dallas County Community College District website in order to apply for scholarship opportunities; this one included. In addition to being enrolled you have to complete the FAFSA by May 1, you need a 2.0 GPA, be a Photography major along with being signed up for at least 6 credit hours.

Before you can apply to this opportunity, you need to fill out the general application. Once that application is complete you will be shown scholarships for which you qualify. I don't have access to the questionnaire but I'm sure there will be a question pertaining to major.

So if you're majoring in Photography be sure to mention that. Some helpful links:

Fix The Photo Academic Scholarship 2019

Another photo editing firm offering scholarships to three (3) fortunate participants. I didn't see any mention of GPA but applicants must be or are getting ready to enroll in an accredited institution. For those getting ready to enroll, you have to provide a letter of acceptance from said school.

In case you were wondering, yes there is an essay involved. There's a word minimum of 1,500 and you're only allowed to submit an application once. Multiple applications in addition to grammatical, format and punctuation mistakes will definitely be disqualified (FTP Scholarship page).

Best advice is to read through the entire scholarship page as there's a lot of information that needs to be digested. For the essay theme, it is suppose to read 'world' instead of word. Winners are announced on September 10 so stay tuned to your Inboxes.

Adjusting on the Fly

It was all planned out and I was actually excited to have several scholarships to share. After things were said and done the list shrunk down to three. They were promising contenders but after looking around their deadline had either passed earlier than expected or they weren't hosting for the current year.

Not only that but I wasn't expecting to see essays for photography scholarship entries. Though little these are a start in the right direction for school funding. Also, pay a visit to the August 2017 post in addition to AIE dot org for helpful information.
