Scholarship Reel: February & March 2018

It's been a while since a reel of any kind was done so let's try to make the most of this one. Some more research was done in regards to scholarships that actually cater to an expansive student base. By expansive I'm talking about international students looking for assistance to help foot the higher education bill.

Locating scholarships of the international nature is easier said than done especially when the requirements for said scholarship don't come any where close to being international. Fortunately my search turned up some promising scholarships. Even better, an actual site.

The site is called IEFA and hosts a nice compilation of resources for students looking for financial assistance. When you get time from your course work, take some time to explore the links on the site; top bar navigation. The About page explains the organization's mission while the Resources page walks you through the process of searching as well as explaining how the scholarship application process works.

Definitely look into the Blog as there's always some useful information included especially in regards to some up coming scholarship opportunities.

We're halfway through February and there's still scholarships to be had. That said, there's a select amount that aren't restricted to location (hopefully). Here are some promising opportunities.

Deadline Reel March 2018

March 1

National Press Club Scholarships - There are three scholarships listed on their site and after doing a quick web search it seems that the deadline tends to fall on or around March 1. The scholarships are still active and most of the important information can be found within the PDF links on the scholarship information pages.

ASEV Scholarship Programs -The American Society for Enology and Viticulture have two scholarships up for grabs for students majoring in the study of wines and or grape farming. They're not your typical scholarships but there's a list of criteria that need to be met in order to qualify. The PDFs included within the additional information links houses all that need to be met which include official school documents. Read through everything to make sure nothing is missed nor left out of the application.

March 1 - 15

The Center for Cyber Security and Education is hosting four scholarships this year with two having deadlines on March 1st, one on March 15 and one on April 17. There's criteria that needs to be met and each scholarship page provides ample amounts of information on what's needed. At minimum you will need a 3.30 to 3.50 GPA in addition to school related documents. The scholarships are as follows:

March 31

Writers/Illustrators of the Future Contest - This is for Quarter 2 of the contest series. Essentially this contest is for unpublished writers and illustrators. There are two separate entry pages for each category respectfully. As far as I can tell, you aren't restricted based on location. For clarification on this, send an inquiry to Joni via email at [contests@authorservicesinc.com]. I've participated in the past and find that starting on submissions early help; especially true for the writing.

Rules - Writers ~ #5 is of importance if you do side tasks involving writing
Rules - Illustrators ~ #3 is of importance if you do side tasks involving illustration

Read through all rules to ensure you have an understanding of what is being asked of you for participation. Check the FAQ section for possible answers to questions and for any answers that cannot be found there then you are to contact customer service. Also, you can submit your entries electronically or through the mail just be sure to read up on how to do so properly.

Stay On Top of Deadlines

Be mindful of entry times and deadlines for scholarships and contests. Read every detail of the entry forms along with rules to ensure you aren't booted before you get through the door. The list of upcoming opportunities seems small but it's a promising start in the right direction.
