Summer Break is Nearing
Happy Monday! Well Summer Break is fast approaching which begs the questions: What to do over break?
There are many things like hitting the beach, water parks, shopping centers, spas, town centers, etc. I know summer is time to rest up from months of grueling work, but why not make the most of it while still being able to enjoy your down time from school.
Everyone is familiar with Summer Employment but as a recent newspaper article suggested, work opportunities are slim pickings. Discouraged? Don't be because there are opportunities available.
Its just a matter of inquiry. Start with a passion and or interest and go from there. If you have a love for surfing and helping others, you can signup to be a lifeguard or a surf instructor.
Love taking pictures and sharing them? Become a seasonal photographer or photographers assistant. Take awesome pictures and sell them online or in person; don't forget the permission forms if individuals are involved in the photographing process.
You can even go the route of photographing for a local magazine/newspaper. Other options include running a mini food stand, a dessert cart featuring tasty frozen treats or even helping out others with their business.
In addition to summer work, take the time to search and apply for scholarships. Summer is usually the IT time for finding scholarships since the awards for them are usually released to the school around the time it goes back in session during the fall months. Also, if you're working during this time, set aside funds in a savings and or CD [certificate of deposit] account as a future safety net.
Take advantage of any and all opportunities for earning funds and gaining work experience that comes your way. Even if its not in your chosen field/major, the opportunity will give you insight into the industry as a whole. Who knows, you may actually encounter things relevant to your major.
