Upcoming Scholarships: August and September 2019

This is fairly late, I admit, but I do have some scholarships to share with at least one with a fast approaching deadline. So let's kick things off.

August 1

PixelPlex

If you're studying and or majoring in a field that falls under STEM then this scholarship is up your ally; more or less. In order to qualify, you have to choose a topic from the two provided and write a 500 or more word essay. Once done, save as a PDF or Word Doc and submit to the provided email address.

Read through everything on the scholarship page including the Eligibility Criteria section. Only one entry per person is allowed.

Steadman Foundation

Another time cruncher as this scholarship is geared toward art students. You have to fill out the application form on the page in addition to providing "a portfolio, an artist's statement, letter of recommendation (optional but encouraged) and transcript(s)". It's not a one and done type of application as there are a series of stages that applicants have to go through for consideration but don't let this deter you.

Scholarships in the creative field are difficult to find especially this close to fall so jump on this as soon as you can. Additional info can be found at the link above.

August 15

Elena Bathrick Scholarship

"This scholarship will be available to youth from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador." In order to qualify, in addition to the above, you must submit an essay on the writing prompt: The most important Hispanic woman in my life. The only thing I'm not certain of is the word maximum but at minimum the word count of the finished essay should be at or around 500.

[There's a donation option as well.]

September 2

NLF Scholarships

For this one, you'll have to scroll down past the Choi and Fong scholarships; feel free to make notes of them for next year. The NLF scholarships are a collection of six different scholarships that all have a September 2 deadline. All scholarships are listed and a snippet of each is provided; however, there are no links to each individual one and here's why.

There is a combined application form in use which means you'll be applying for all six scholarships; but this doesn't mean you'll qualify for all of them. Before you even go forward with the application read through the FAQ to ensure you have all that is needed. Once done, click on the application link which will lead you to NLF's Survey Monkey page.

There are no restrictions as to who can apply outside of the applicant being currently enrolled at an accredited law school.

September 15

ScholarshipPoints.com

I have utilized this site in the past during my schooling and it's one of the simplest scholarship sites I've encountered. Despite the simplicity you will have to put in the work as the points won't just fall in your lap. Every three months SP hosts a $10K scholarship drawing of which is rewarded to one fortunate student (that's a member of the site).

In order to be in the running for the scholarship, you have to enter points into the drawing in order to be considered; but don't stop there. The site also hosts a variety of other scholarship drawings throughout the year in addition to the big 10K. Complete daily tasks for points and keep a sharp eye on their social media pages (namely Twitter and FB) as they'll occasionally post bonus codes of which can be redeemed toward your points balance.

Afterwards

I know for some the main goal is to locate as many scholarships as possible. In addition to scholarships you should really keep an eye out for apprenticeships and internships. While examining the scholarship selections, it was discovered that NLF has internship options available.

Though the deadline for Summer 2019 has passed, chances are they will host them again next year. The deadline will likely be April 10 but it's best to keep tabs on the page just in case it changes.
