Spring Break Incoming

SPRING BREAK TIME!!!!

Students abound are either currently engaged in Spring Break or making preparations for it during the next several weeks. Fun in the sun, shade or wherever is likely at the top of everyone's list during this time. Some students during this time take the opportunity to work close to home while enjoying their free time at local attractions.

In past posts especially those from 2015 and 2016 have constantly stated the need to earn funds and search for scholarships during this time frame. Can you really afford to take a break of this kind from these things? I don't see why not but there are those that are exceptional multi-taskers and will find ways to have their frozen yogurt and eat it too.

Take to your blog or vlog and show everyone what you're doing. Hit the jackpot at local shop? Share your finds and discounts with others along with tips on how they can do the same in their neck of the woods.

Remember those photography bits that were mentioned then elaborated on in the Micro Jobs Photography post? You can do the same this time around. Take some amazing pictures of the sites you've seen including any and all weather conditions; like those clouds that mysteriously take on the form of food items when you're hungry.

Not into photography but love to create things with your hands? Create fashions and or accessories inspired by your travels. If you're more of an utensil to paper type, then illustrate surrounding scenes in your choices of black and white, sepia or even full color.

Once you've completed creating whichever, you can sell the finished products once you return home so you'll have once less thing to worry about.

Where to Sell Your Wares

This wasn't covered or at least not directly as no two venues are exactly alike. A big no duh statement for sure but that doesn't change things as these venues keep changing things up to the point of throwing curve balls into left field. In general, the best place to start selling your items is through a local venue much like a stand or booth of sorts.

Some localities you can explore include but aren't limited to are:
  • Farmer's Market
  • Flea Market
  • Fair Grounds
  • Carnival or Seasonal Festival
  • Neighborhood Block Party Event
Permissions will vary and you really need to check with event organizers in advance prior to going on location to set up. Depending on location spots are limited and often distributed on a first come first serve basis; so be on the ball if you wish to go this route. On another note, pay close attention to what will and won't be provided by the hosting group along with any and all fees associated with setup.

In regards to online you can look into:
  • Etsy
  • Shopify
  • Amazon (maybe)
  • Personal Store through SquareUp
  • Personal Shop through SquareSpace
Like the local suggestions this is just a starting point and since these are digital venues you will definitely need to familiarize yourself with each of their terms, rules, FAQs along with their DOs and DON'Ts. From what was researched, Amazon has a way that enables individuals to sell products through their platform either through their Fulfillment program (ship to Amazon and they'll do the rest) or through your own portal (you ship the products directly to customer).

Where To?

Its been an excruciating academic session and you're in dire need of some rest and relaxation. Keep the above in mind while out and about as you'll never know when creative inspiration will hit you like an ice cold water balloon. Stay hydrated, keep the SPF close and the snacks closer.

Here's a tune to help get you into the vacay mood. Enjoy!
